RESIDENTIAL
RENO F
Project F, located in Mississauga, Ontario, is conceived as a contemporary residential interior defined by curvilinear geometry and refined detailing, where architectural intervention and material precision work together to create a distinctive spatial experience. The design explores fluid forms as a counterbalance to the home’s original rigid structure, introducing softness, movement, and visual continuity throughout the space.
Curved lines are thoughtfully integrated across key architectural and interior elements, creating moments of transition and focus while guiding movement in an intuitive and organic manner. Material junctions are treated with particular care; transitions between tile and wood flooring are articulated with custom metal reveals, transforming functional thresholds into deliberate design features and reinforcing a consistent level of craftsmanship throughout the home.
One of the defining moments of the project is the basement theatre, designed as an immersive viewing environment. The space is grounded by top-glow blackout blinds, eliminating visual distractions and enhancing depth and enclosure to replicate a cinematic experience within a residential setting. Controlled lighting and darkened surfaces heighten focus and comfort, establishing the theatre as both a technical and experiential centerpiece.
Architectural reprogramming plays a critical role in the project’s success. A load-bearing wall was removed to open up the plan and improve spatial flow, with structural integrity maintained through the strategic integration of LVL beams. These structural elements are intentionally expressed and clad in wood paneling, transforming necessity into design language and reinforcing the project’s commitment to purposeful, honest detailing.
Through curvilinear expression, precise material transitions, and thoughtful structural transformation, Project F demonstrates how architectural clarity and interior design can work in tandem to elevate everyday living into a carefully crafted spatial narrative.
