The house for a single art gallery owner in the Cabbage town neighborhood of Toronto specifies a one-bedroom home that embeds Asian culture in the house. To incorporate the Victorian architecture style, cladding in pale concrete masonry and red bricks cooperatively form the facade of the house to not only indicate the beauty of the combination in terms of color and material but also establish the connection to the neighborhood.
For this project, the clients are a young couple, currently without children but planning for the future, and they have no pets. Their requirements include a space for hosting dinners that can accommodate 6-10 people, a large kitchen island where they can cook while watching TV, a dedicated workspace, and a cozy area to enjoy coffee or tea alone with a view of the yard.
The client requested a full renovation of their kitchen to replace and demolish the outdated cabinetry and island, aiming for a modern, dark-themed design. Additionally, they wanted the ground floor powder room to embody a moody, classic Art Deco aesthetic to balance the kitchen’s darker tones with a touch of hospitality elegance. Each washroom throughout the home has been renovated with unique aesthetics, yet all maintain a cohesive harmony within the overall design style.
The client requested a stylization and renovation of the living room, dining area, and bedroom in a newly built apartment located in North York. To enrich the interior and soften the contrast with the dark flooring, natural and warm finishes were introduced, bringing warmth and harmony to the space.
This project focuses on transforming the entire apartment to evoke the feeling of a “breeze brushing gently against your face.” A new dressing room was added to replace the original walk-in closet, significantly maximizing space while creating a cozy nook for the client. The main living area is thoughtfully divided into four functional zones: a study and coffee bar area, a dining area, a living space, and a lounge designed for music appreciation. Each zone possesses its own unique features and aesthetic, yet they are unified by a monochromatic color scheme, creating a harmonious, cohesive flow throughout the space.
The living room is conceived as a “Wood Box,” where the rich warmth of wood grounds the space, creating a cozy, intimate environment that invites family members to gather. The wood finish wraps the room, fostering a sense of enclosure and connection, while the travertine tile introduces a contrasting, neutral palette that balances the warmth, offering a visual “breathing room” that adds depth and lightness. Vertical wood slats around the staircase enhance the sense of height and accentuate the ceiling’s grandeur, drawing the eye upward and celebrating the verticality of the architecture. Positioned near a window, this feature allows natural light to filter through, creating dynamic patterns and highlighting the interplay between natural materials and light, offering a moment of tranquility and harmony in the heart of the home.
This design concept harmoniously blends modern minimalism with a warm, inviting atmosphere, creating spaces that are both functional and aesthetically pleasing. Neutral tones of white, cream, and earthy hues set a calming foundation, while pops of muted pastels and bold accents add depth and character.
The living room's sleek fireplace and dark stone coffee table serve as a striking focal point, complemented by soft textures and natural light. The nursery's serene palette, playful cloud-shaped lighting, and practical furniture provide a nurturing environment, while the children's playroom balances fun and functionality with vibrant accents, modular storage, and whimsical seating.
Together, these spaces celebrate contemporary elegance and purposeful design, fostering a sense of comfort and timeless beauty in every corner.

The Garden Zen/Project CO, located in North York, is conceived as a serene residential retreat grounded in Japandi and Zen design principles, where spatial restraint, natural materiality, and mindful living converge. The project emphasizes simplicity without austerity, allowing carefully selected raw materials to define the character of the interior while fostering a sense of calm and balance.
Natural elements form the foundation of the design language. Wood slats and solid wood surfaces introduce rhythm, warmth, and tactile depth, while natural stone provides a grounded counterpoint that anchors the space. Limewash paint is applied to walls to celebrate imperfection and texture, subtly capturing light and shadow to enhance the organic, handcrafted quality central to Zen aesthetics. Together, these materials create an environment that feels honest, timeless, and intentionally unrefined.
Spatial composition is guided by the concept of harmony between interior and exterior. A newly introduced kitchen island serves as a social and functional centerpiece, positioned adjacent to a carefully placed indoor tree. This gesture intentionally blurs the boundary between inside and outside, bringing the essence of a garden into the daily living experience and reinforcing the Japandi philosophy of living in quiet connection with nature.
Through restrained detailing, muted tones, and a deliberate absence of visual excess, Project CO offers a contemplative living environment that prioritizes well-being, presence, and longevity. The design transforms the home into a peaceful sanctuary—an interior shaped not by trend, but by balance, material honesty, and a deep respect for natural living.

RICHMOND HILL PROJECT MI explores a refined interpretation of transitional design, where contemporary clarity is balanced with timeless warmth through the use of natural materials and restrained detailing. The project is conceived to amplify a sense of sophistication while maintaining a calm, lived-in atmosphere, achieved through a carefully curated material palette and cohesive spatial composition.
Oak wood is used extensively as the primary material, celebrated for its natural grain and warmth, and serves as a unifying element throughout the interior. Its presence softens the architecture and establishes a tactile connection between spaces, counterbalancing the depth of the darker flooring. A beige-based color palette is introduced to offset this contrast, allowing light to diffuse evenly while enhancing the overall sense of openness and visual comfort.
The living room becomes the emotional core of the home, anchored by a custom millwork bookcase designed as both a functional and architectural feature. Beyond providing generous storage, the millwork frames a quiet study area, creating a layered domestic experience that supports reading, reflection, and daily rituals. This integration of utility and intimacy reflects the project’s broader design philosophy—where form and function coexist seamlessly without visual excess.
Through thoughtful material layering, balanced tonal contrasts, and bespoke detailing, RICHMOND HILL PROJECT MI redefines transitional living as an elegant yet approachable interior, offering a timeless residential environment that responds to both aesthetic refinement and everyday life.

Project F, located in Mississauga, Ontario, is conceived as a contemporary residential interior defined by curvilinear geometry and refined detailing, where architectural intervention and material precision work together to create a distinctive spatial experience. The design explores fluid forms as a counterbalance to the home’s original rigid structure, introducing softness, movement, and visual continuity throughout the space.
Curved lines are thoughtfully integrated across key architectural and interior elements, creating moments of transition and focus while guiding movement in an intuitive and organic manner. Material junctions are treated with particular care; transitions between tile and wood flooring are articulated with custom metal reveals, transforming functional thresholds into deliberate design features and reinforcing a consistent level of craftsmanship throughout the home.
One of the defining moments of the project is the basement theatre, designed as an immersive viewing environment. The space is grounded by top-glow blackout blinds, eliminating visual distractions and enhancing depth and enclosure to replicate a cinematic experience within a residential setting. Controlled lighting and darkened surfaces heighten focus and comfort, establishing the theatre as both a technical and experiential centerpiece.
Architectural reprogramming plays a critical role in the project’s success. A load-bearing wall was removed to open up the plan and improve spatial flow, with structural integrity maintained through the strategic integration of LVL beams. These structural elements are intentionally expressed and clad in wood paneling, transforming necessity into design language and reinforcing the project’s commitment to purposeful, honest detailing.
Through curvilinear expression, precise material transitions, and thoughtful structural transformation, Project F demonstrates how architectural clarity and interior design can work in tandem to elevate everyday living into a carefully crafted spatial narrative.
